The study established the engineering foundation for improving nutrient circulation, root-zone oxygenation of next-generation controlled environment agriculture (CEA) systems.
Vertical farming systems require continuous nutrient circulation to support healthy root development and maximize crop productivity. Conventional mechanical pumps consume energy, require ongoing maintenance, and provide limited oxygen transfer to the nutrient solution.

FloNergia adapted its patented FloMov™ technology for hydroponic nutrient circulation and integrated it into a modular vertical farming system.
The prototype was tested alongside a commercial Just Vertical unit under identical growing conditions to evaluate hydraulic performance, nutrient circulation, and crop growth.
The project demonstrated that FloMov™ can successfully extend beyond aquaculture and wastewater applications into controlled environment agriculture. The collaboration established the technical foundation for next-generation vertical farming systems with simplified water circulation, improved root-zone aeration, and future integration with AI-enabled monitoring and optimization.
The technology has since progressed toward commercialization within Just Vertical's product portfolio.
